the view

One of my joys living here in Kabul (and they are precious being few) is the view from my room. Through the grillwork of the balcony ironwork and over the housetops, I can see one of the mountains that encircle the city.

However...it was decided that since we could see out, others could see in and it was time to build another barrier.

And we got this - not only couldn't anybody see in, I could see out only barely.
After a certain amount of whining, I got a compromise. The portion of the railing that was in front of my window and in my line of sight as I sat at the computer would have hinged panels that I could swing out.

And some of my view is back . Better than nothing.
